  1. My cousin, Ron was as much a big brother to me as anyone could be. He was kind, and caring, and my guiding light in so many ways. It is hard for me to even think of a world without him in it.
The problem with having a large family is losing so many loved ones. With each passing it feels as if a part of your soul has departed with them. Ron takes a very large part of mine with him. I guess the other side of the coin is the great reunion we all have in Heaven. I can just imagine all the loved ones who were there to greet him, including our cousins, Wayne and Bill Fortin. Our loss is Heaven's gain.
Rest in Peace, Ron. I know that you are.
All my love, now and forever

  2. I will always remember many great things about Ron. My favorite was probably when i was young, and out at Anchorage Marina. Amy and I would have to run down "C" Dock because of all of the crazy parties our dad's would have on the dock. They always teased us that they were going to throw us in the lake (they were only kidding of course, but when you are 12, you think it is real). I also loved seeing all the motorcycles leaving Grand Rapids for the Midnight Run. What a sight that was. But the thing that I will always remember was his big smile.....never saw him without it. God be with you Ron. From Crystal Wissink (Chambers)

  3. I first met Ron approximately 50 years ago. A few of us were invited for an afternoon sail on Rich DeVos' boat. When we came back to the slip, we were intertained around a campfire by a group called "The Greenbrier Minstrails". Ron was one of them, playing his guitar, singing John Denver songs, etc. This was in the 60's. From there I had the "experience" of being a coworker of Rons at Amway Corp for close to 30 years. What a great time! We nicked named Ron, "Taz" (short for the Taxmainien Devil) since he was always on the move and envolved in whatever intrigued him at the moment! After Amway, our friendship continued to this day. One day while having lunch with Ron, the church Lynn and I attend came up and I suggested that Ron & Jayne should consider coming back on a regular basis. Ron agreed and they started attending on a regular basis. Soon, the glorious day came when they both committed their lives to Christ. Since then, they have touched countless numbers of people and have blessed lives beyond measure. Ron, I already miss you, your calls, our kidding one another, your relentless passions for whatever you were doing at the time, your birthday calls, and I will still look for you at church. With a heavy heart, I say we love you, and look forward to the day when we meet again, singing songs together.

  4. My husband and I spent every Sunday morning for years with Ron and Jayne and our greyhound group. We faithfully gathered at various gated parks and baseball diamonds in the freezing winter, the wet spring, the broiling summer and the glorious fall. We had each adopted our beloved dogs and we all gloried in watching them run free. The dogs all had coats for the winter and we called them the "Polo Lords" because they acted just like a gang when any other dog dared to encroach on their territory. Ron and Jayne loved those dogs, Bob, Jasmine ans Sweet Pea so we weren't surprised to hear that they had taken up search and rescue with bloodhounds years later. Ron had such gusto for life - it's hard to believe that his valiant spirit has been stilled. Ron's was devoted to his wife and his furry and feathered children. His life has ended prematurely but he lived his life joyously. He will be sorely missed.

  5. Ron always had a smile on his face and a friendly hi for everyone. I remember his patience back in the Amway days, teaching me about the business that he loved. Years later, running into him and Jayne at various Harley events, it was as if the years had never passed. What a great guy...he will be missed. Jayne, know that I'm thinking of you and praying for you during this unimaginably difficult time.

  6. The first time I met Ron was when I was involved in an accident. His smiling face was the first person I saw standing outside of my vehicle. Little did I know that our paths would cross a few years later in the world of K-9 Search and Rescue. I was a joy to watch Ron work with his canine partner in the pursuit of finding lost persons.
Thank you for your willingness to help those in need, your smile will be missed.
Godspeed my friend and I hope you have that all familiar Bloodhound slobber is all over your face now.

  7. I have many fond memories of boating with Ron and the Lindblom family in Holland. As a child my parents were good friends wtih the Lindbloms and we spent a lot of time hanging out with Amy and Sari and all the animals. My father passed away almost a year ago and Ron was one of the first phone calls I got after he learned of his passing. I chatted with Ron and we shared stories and fond memories.

My prayers go out to the entire Lindblom family in this difficult time.

Cousins yes but more like brother & sister without the fighting. He was so good to me even tho' I was younger & sometimes a little pistol. When we were kids, the girls just loved him & I remember him making out on the raft at Sand Lake & I was underneath it splashing them. He taught me to water ski behind his old wooden boat with a 16 hp motor & he went on to do trick skiing. He would hang on to the rope with no skis on & go under water & come up every so often. When he got his new 1962 Buick Special convertible, he picked me up & taught me how to drive a stick shift so I could drive that car .He was an accomplished dance roller skater & won awards all over the country. He kidnapped me from MSU one weekend & took me to U of M to party with his friends. Betty his pet Boa would warm herself on the chain lamp in his apartment & then slither on the plate rail across the room to her tank. Sometimes she'd disappear & he'd find her in the couch or his golf bag. I loved to hear him sing & play his guitar with The Greenbrier Minstrels. They were really good! He took my Downs Brother Todd for a motorcycle ride that he's still talking about. He knew how to make my Mom giggle which was so fun. He was always there & now all I'll have are the memories. I am so grateful that we are all Christians & know that we'll see each other again. What a reunion that will be. My prayers are for all of us who have to go on without this wonderful man. I do know that all of his pets met him at Heaven's Door, even Betty I'm sure.

  9. I talked to Ron for the first and only time in August 2012 at the Leadership Summit lunch gathering of KCC leaders. He was so warm and friendly and passionate about techie things. He had the whole table engaged---even people like me who don't understand much of it. I was impressed that Ron saw his tech passion/knowledge as a gift from God and so he used it as such --- looking for ways to improve lives to the glory of God.

  15. Worked with Ron as part of the KC Search and Rescue. A couple years ago we both ended up stationed at the same crossroad pulling a long night shift out in Alto to re-route traffic during a gas leak. I also appreciated him bringing the dogs to SAR trainings/meetings. I once even ran into him while he was at the Harley dealership. Such an active person and a great volunteer! I can hardly believe he is gone. He will be much missed.
